The Fleetwoods ประกอบด้วย 1 ชาย 2 หญิง
ซึ่งเป็นเพื่อนนักเรียนไฮสกูลด้วยกัน
ระหว่างรอแม่มารับกลับบ้าน ก็นั่งฮัมเพลง ร้องเพลงด้วยกัน
และนึกสนุกรวมกันเป็น Trio
ร้องเพลงในโรงเรียนจนเพื่อนๆยุให้อัดแผ่นเสียง
หลังจากนั้น ก็ดังขึ้นมาจากเพลง Come Softly to Me
ซึ่งได้รับแผ่นเสียงทองคำในปี 1959

ชาย 1 เดียว คือ Gary Troxel นักร้องนำ ปัจจุบันอายุ 70 แล้ว
และอีก 2 สาวคือ Gretchen Christopher
และเพื่อนของ Christopher ชื่อ Barbara Ellis อายุอ่อนกว่า Gary 1 ปีทั้ง 2 สาว
แรกเริ่มเมื่อจับกลุ่มกันใช้ชื่อว่า Two Girls and a Guy ก่อนจะมาใช้ The Fleetwoods


เพลง Mr.Blue นี้ ได้รับรางวัลแผ่นเสียงทองคำในปี 1959
